Position details: Infection Control Practitioner

  • Location: St Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL

  • Status: Full time, salaried

  • 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday

  • On Call: Yes

  • Weekend work: No

The Infection Control Practitioner is a leader within the Health System who demonstrates mastery and proficiency in quality leadership skills. Skills and responsibilities include:

  • Utilizes critical thinking skills in the day to day operations of the department

  • Has clinical expertise and focuses on the needs of the patient and family as well as team members, visitors and other healthcare providers

  • Interacts with other healthcare providers to decrease both the potential and actual risk of infection

  • Assists management in defining, implementing and evaluating hospital standards

  • Acts as a community resource

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications includes one of the following:

  • 5 years of Clinical Related experience with RN license and Nursing Degree

  • 5 years Microbiology experience with Medical Technologist Certification and Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Public Health

  • 2 years Infection Control with RN license and Nursing Degree

  • 2 years Epidemiology experience with a Masters Degree in Epidemiology

Required education includes one of the following:

  • Diploma - Nursing

  • Associates - Nursing

  • Bachelors - Medical Technology

  • Bachelors - Public Health

  • Masters - Epidemiology

Credentials may include:

  • RN (Registered Nurse)

  • Medical Technologist

  • Preferred: CIC (Infection Control)
