BayCare is currently in search of our newest Acute Care Physical Therapist Assistant who is passionate about providing outstanding customer service to our community. Founded in 1916, Morton Plant Hospital was the first hospital built in northern Pinellas County. The 599-bed facility provides highly technical and specialized care to more than 50,000 patients annually and works in more than 50 specialty areas.
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Conduct initial evaluations of patients' physical abilities, including range of motion, strength, and functional mobility, under the direction of a licensed physical therapist.
Treatment Implementation: Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans developed by the physical therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, gait training, and modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, proper body mechanics, and strategies for managing their condition or injury, promoting independence and self-care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, treatment interventions, and outcomes according to regulatory and facility guidelines.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to create a safe environment for patients and staff. Ensure compliance with state practice acts, facility policies, and regulatory standards governing physical therapy services.
Equipment Management: Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of therapeutic equipment and assistive devices used in patient care.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and preferences of patients, ensuring that their treatment plans align with their goals and priorities for recovery.
Continuing Education: Stay informed about advancements in physical therapy techniques, evidence-based practices, and regulatory changes through ongoing education and professional development activities.

Requirements :
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
Required Associate's Physical Therapy
Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
